griswold has landed

Last year, my little Bs received a very special package in the mail on the day after Thanksgiving. It was a tiny little elf, sent by Santa himself. He came with a book that told us the story about our special little friend and why he had come to visit our family. We learned that this elf had come to watch our little Bs during the day. Then, at night when everyone was asleep, our elf would fly back to the North Pole and report how each little B acted that day to Santa. (Yes, this is how Santa knows who is naughty or nice!) Our little elf always made it back to our house before morning, and he would always land in a different spot. Every morning, Berkley and Beckham would hop out of bed searching the house to see where our tiny friend had landed. There were several rules we were told to follow along with the job of naming our new special friend. Berkley and Beckham decided on Griswold after many suggestions had been given. We learned that none of us could touch Griswold or he would lose his magic. We also learned that Griswold cannot talk to us, but that we can talk to him any time that we want. In fact, we discovered that he will deliver all of our messages to Santa. Berkley and Beckham enjoyed updating Griwold each night on the things they had put on their Christmas wish list. They also did a great job reminding each other throughout the day that Griswold was watching and just might report their bad behavior to Santa... so even when they began to be a little naughty, they quickly changed their behavior to nice. (Mommy and Daddy really enjoyed Griswold's stay too!!!) We also learned, however, that Griswold would fly back to the North Pole on Christmas Eve to give Santa his last report before Christmas morning, but that is when he would stay at the North Pole until the next Christmas season came around.

Well...we have all been anticipating Griswold's return... wondering just when he would appear. We remembered that last year he came the day after Thanksgiving, and we were hoping he might do the same again this year. We were our of town for Thanksgiving this year, and Berkley and Beckham began wondering if Griswold would be waiting for us at our house when we returned. When our car pulled up to our house on Sunday, Berkley and Beckham could not get out of the car fast enough. They ran into the house and immediately began their search. After a few minutes of intense looking, Beckham spotted our dear friend!
Griswold had landed... on top of our wire Christmas tree. Berkley and Beckham were both so excited to see him. They already had so many things to tell him. He has been with us for two days now, and we are all enjoying his visit so much. It is amazing how hard my little Bs are working to be nice and not naughty... knowing that Griswold will be reporting all he hears and sees to Santa! (Too bad Griswold only gets to stay with us for the month of December!)

Griswold is known to sometimes land in some pretty unusual places. We'll keep you updated on some of his favorite spots. For those of you whose tiny little friend hasn't made it to your house yet, you better be on your best behavior. You never know when Santa might send a little elf your way to see who is being naughty or nice!!!

Griswold is too cute! I read about him landing in Angie's house as well! I LOVE that idea! Thanks for sharing his presence in your household! Wish I could trade him places one of these December days! ;)

I love it! We had one when I was a kid and I still have the elf but I need to get the book. Bella would love it!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the photos of her in the Nutcracker!! So fun! Our school did that all 3 years in elementary. I was a hot pink waltzing flower. oh yeah baby! :) I think I would have been better with a flower pilot though! :)

Can't wait to see yall in a month or so!!!
